This course is designed to develop your theoretical knowledge and skills so that you can plan, organise and carry out no decompression dives between 18 and 40 metres. As you no doubt have seen for yourself during the Deep Dive of your PADI Advanced Open Water Course, so much of interest lies below eighteen metres – fantastic wrecks, beautiful reefs and wall dives!
Without doubt deep diving can offer some of the most stimulating and exciting challenges in the world of scuba diving. This course equips you with the skills to meet these challenges and discover the beauty of deep water reefs or visit wreck sites little explored by other divers. Becoming a PADI Deep Diver can be a passport to other underwater adventures that are often beyond the 18 metre threshold.

On completion of the course you will be awarded the PADI Deep Diver Speciality diver award. The Deep Diver Speciality can be accredited as one of the five speciality ratings a diver has to attain to achieve the highest non-instructional qualification on the PADI curriculum – Master Scuba Diver.

- How to plan deep dives properly and safely, and the importance of air calculations in deep diving.
- About decompression sickness and how to reduce the risk.
- About special equipment such as redundant air systems that allow you to dive safely to depth.
- The effects of nitrogen narcosis on the deep diver and how to combat it.
- Complete four deep dives.
- During the 4 deep dives you will:
- Put your new knowledge and skills into practice.
- Plan your deep dives; remember “plan your dive, dive your plan.”
- Learn to dive safely to the maximum recreational limit of 40 metres.
- See the wonders of the deep – new life and new wrecks.
